Scouts Major Win in Springfield and other News
Picture from the Best of Winners major that finished Scouts Championship. We are very proud of him and want to thank all the judges that have evaluated him during his career. In addition to this win Scout finished His International Championship this weekend in Gray Summit Missouri with four V1 (Excellent) ratings from four different judges.
With all this excitment over it is time to move Scout on to Senior Hunter (SH) field event this Fall and Spring. Once his Master Hunter is complete it will be off to try to place a Field Championship on him.
Regards,
Jim

Scout Major Win at Gray Summit
We had a wonderful weekend at Gray Summit. Blade had three breed wins; but the exciting news of the weekend Scout picked up his first major. This weekend was the beginning of a very busy show schedule for Scout and we hope to pick up his final major over one of the shows in the next few weeks.
This was an older picture of him we gave him a rest for sometime to finish field training. He has a full hunting season behind him now and has matured very nicely. Scouts new photos wll be posted soon.
More good news with Blade and Scouts preliminary OFA hips did not show any issues and we are looking for the final results in a few weeks. Thank you to all there great folks at Columbia University for the great service, both came back with clear eye exams. All exams will be posted on the web site in the near future.

Scouts Day Out in Kansas City
Well Scout walks away with a two point when he needs a three point. It was shame someone on the girls side did not show this was the second time for scout that this has happened. But he did take a BoW and we are still very proud of him. Hopefully his next majors will not be near misses. Thirteen point; nine singles and two, two point wins both coming on the second day of the show when females did not show.
Now I would be remiss not to give a big congradulations to Steve and Ace. Ace finished at this show. The dog up front is “Cooper” with his handler / owner Karen.

Summer Camp's Over
Summer’s over and Scout’s home from field training. We were a bit nervous at first dropping Scout off. He’s been spoiled and has enjoyed the Conformation ring-life so we were curious to see how he’d react to being treated like a ‘dog’ *gasp*. No popcicles, ice cream, or pizza crusts ... no kitty to chase ... no big fluffy king-size bed to lay on ... and I’m betting nobody called him “little pumpkin”.
Scout is a gem to have and Perfection has given us another outlet to enjoy him. He walked through the field with us on the day we picked him up from camp and flushed out over a dozen birds. Retrieves are very good and once we were trained with handler’s commands, Scout was even more impressive. As Jon put it, now we have a ‘bird dog’.
Since Scout’s been home we’ve noticed he’s obedient with less correction on our part. He’s kept his very playful nature, mild temperment, and like many other beloved pets is just a sweet couch potato.
We’ve also noticed when he’s outdoors now he’s not destructive with the yard but instead is looking for something to flush out. We were convinced this was a birdy fellow when we brought him home from Endever kennels. Now that we’ve seen him in action, the 3 months of training was more of a bargain than we anticipated.
Very big thanks to Jon, Cindy and the entire team at Perfection Kennels for doing such an outstanding job working with Scout. If you’ve not had the chance to visit Perfection Kennels or talk with Jon, Cindy or Rachel (Scout’s favorite), we highly recommend it.

Scout takes 2 Points in Bloomington IN KC
Scout rounds out the year with a Winners Dog for two points. We were hoping the major would hold but alais it did not. We are thrilled with the win and want to thank Patty Huffman for watching out for our young man while in Indiana. This is the first time Scout has gone out with a handler. I only hope he was not to much of a spas. Photos should be posted in a few weeks.
This will be it for Scout until sometime in September. It is off to field training for 90 days, we will miss having him around it was really strange not having him here for the weekend and Blade paced alot the first day looking for him. It was a little like where is Scout, where is Scout, where is Scout, oh the cat, um where is Scout, where is Scout, oh the cat. =D
September and the start of field competition we will be attending a mix of shows upon his return mainly looking for majors. Blade we are going to hold back for another couple of months for some finishing training.
